Fabricated reel in record time to ensure safety in operations

Problem Statement

Ports are busy places and downtime in machinery directly impact revenues. An accident damaged one of the cranes of our customer JSW MHC. The reel of the crane was damaged due to hydraulic cylinder failure and it needed a one to one replacement. The client wanted this done urgently; in less than 10 days, as downtime was not affordable.

Solution

Execution of this project was complex, as the client had no drawings of the wheel. Delivering a new wheel with no drawings and tight deadlines was challenging as the odds were stacked against us. It was like going back to the drawing board and we decided to fabricate the wheel from a damaged wheel. We took the challenge head on and engineered and manufactured the wheel in just 8 days. The fitment and operation was perfect and hence it was ready for use immediately, ensuring safety in operations.
